The drive event provides nutritional assistance to residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Union County, NJ – The ongoing county of emergency food distribution events in Union County continues on Saturday, July 31 with a comprehensive event on Kean University campus at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union County. The event starts at 8:00 p.m.

Food distribution events are open to all Union residents. Food will be delivered on a first come, first served basis and no registration required. Events occur rain or shine.

“Delivering emergency food continues to be a lifeline for our residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, and summer can be particularly challenging for families relying on nutritional assistance during the school year. “We will continue to provide this resource to those in our community who need a helping hand,” said Commissioner Alexander Mirabella.

“During this time as residents continue to deal with unemployment, housing issues and food insecurity, we are working hard to help everyone put food on their tables,” said Commissioner Sergio Granados, who also serves as an Advisory Board Liaison Officer. of Human Services. “We thank Village Super Market, Gargiulo Produce and CMC Foods for their continued partnership.”

Residents wishing to receive food at car distribution events at Kean University must arrive by vehicle. Walks will not be set at this event.

All car makers should stay in their cars with their windows rolled up whenever possible. Food boxes will be placed in the trunk or bed of the vehicle truck by volunteers.

Upon arrival, proof of residence in New Jersey and an indication of how many people live in their home will need to be provided. Beneficiaries will receive an emergency box of products, milk and stable food on the shelf, enough to support a family for several days. Please note that only one food box will be provided for each recipient at each event.

This event will be held in accordance with state orders COVID-19 regarding social distance and other protocols.
