The local brewery offers live beer, food and entertainment choices

Breweries are becoming the newest local trend in the area with some offering a wide variety of ales, craft beers, wines, snacks and let’s not forget live entertainment.
There are some that are family friendly, some are pet friendly, but mostly they are human friendly and provide an atmosphere for everyone to enjoy! Here are some of the New Bern and the best places in the surrounding area for fresh beers and delicious food.

Brewery 99
104 Pollock Street, New Bern, NC 28560
Brewery99 has the distinction of being the first brewery at the opening of Craven County in 2015. The brewery is owned by Pete Frey. The brewery was recently relocated from 417F Broad Street in downtown New Bern to its current location on Pollock Street.
Frey previously told the Sun Journal that he worked as a photographer and cooked before his beer hobby returned to his current profession. Frey said the name Brewery99 was based on his birthday, September 9, and a series of what he described as a lucky coincidence such as his move to New Bern in 1999 and, according to Frey, his brewery was the 99th which opened in the state.
The brewery offers their flagship Confignorant Pale Ale, Lunatic Gruit, a mildly flavored hop-free ale, gentian root and mugwort, Smoke Wheat, XXX Belgian Tripel, its sweetest beer, their Hideout Oatmeal Stout dark, among several other products to enjoy. your taste buds.

Gastropub Army Beer
313 Pollock Street, New Bern
Beer Army Gastrohub opened its doors in New Bern in 2015.
Owned by Dustin Canestorp, who founded the Beer Army in 2008, and Buddy Bengel of Bengel Hospitality, the brewery offers a full menu and bar. Canestrop retired from the Marins Corps in 2014 and partnered with Bengel to open the brewery in 2015, which is a separate unit from the Beer Army.
The brewery and restaurant have 16 rotating taps and four homemade beers and hundreds of different bottled beers. Their special food is burgers. It also offers wine and spirits. Customers can purchase craft beers for off-premises consumption, along with Beer Army branded goods.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday through Monday and the kitchen closes at 9 p.m. They are closed on Tuesday. For more information, visit their website.

BrÜtopia
1201 US 70 East, New Bern
BrÜtopia is a craft beer, bottle shop, home brewery and brewery that features 12 craft products that constantly spin on the tap for your enjoyment, according to their Facebook page. The brewery is constantly changing their beers to offer customers more of a choice to choose from.
They have flights, fill growers and a mug club that is also available to their customers. Their home-made supply includes a controlled / dehumidified grain storage room, which is equipped with a wide variety of specialized malts and jumps. They also sell pound grains or ounces and jumps are available at a growing ounce. The brewery also sells sets of recipes from the extract to cereals and equipment needed for both. Owned by Tim Dryden and Bryan Conway, the brewery opened its doors in James City in 2016. They opened a second location in October 2020 at 460 US 70 in Havelock. Direct entertainment is provided on Friday or Saturday evenings, as well as food trucks.

Freshwater beer

Freshwater Beer is New Bern’s newest brewery! The brewery held its grand official opening on May 22 and has since been busy providing a range of artisanal beers. Owned by Brandon and Tia Scott-Shaver, the brewery offers a cozy indoor environment as well as outdoor seating.
Hours are 4pm to 9pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 4pm to 10pm on Fridays, 4am to 11pm on Saturdays and noon to 6am on Sundays. For more information, visit their website.

Tap that craft beer, wine bar and restaurant

Tap That celebrated its one-year anniversary on May 22, with a big block party that included two other breweries on the list, Brewery99 and Freshwater Beer, which are all located on Pollock Street.
Owned by Jonathan Davis, this brewery offers a wide selection of craft beers, a wine bar and restaurant with a range of menu items to choose from. Live entertainment, special drinks, karaoke and bingo are just some of his weekly events to keep customers coming back for more. It also offers seating and outdoor games including Corn Hole, Bocce ball and Fowling.

Garage

Garage, owned by Marisol Schultz and Daniel Hand, offers 6 of their own specialized craft beers, which are produced locally. They also carry a selection of other craft beers at the tap. The brewery has Arcade games for the family to enjoy, an outdoor stage where live entertainment events are held every week and karaoke is popular among customers.
Lunch is served daily starting at noon and food trucks are often in place for those who come to enjoy a beer later in the day.

Short Road Manufacturing Company

This brewery is located in Newport, which lies between Havelock and Morehead City. They specialize in locally produced American Ales and its manufacturing plant located in Trenton. According to their website, their mission is to provide fresh, lightly brewed beer that boasts locally sourced ingredients.
Their product is also canned and sold throughout North East Carolina. Owners Matt and Lindsey opened the company in 2017. They have a tapia and beer garden and welcome kids, dogs and you can even bring your own food. They offer meals made from North Carolina and food trucks can be found in most places. Live entertainment is also part of the lottery for those who want to go out and enjoy a great evening.

New Brewery and Village Facade
702 Broad St., Oriental, NC
This brewery is a nano-brewery and 1 upholstery in the Oriental, located in Pamlico County. The historic home is built in 1910. They serve NC craft bees and display new NC breweries each week, while also providing their own beers. Owned by Frank & Lillie Bacon, the brewery opened on June 30, 2017, recently celebrating their fourth anniversary. The brewery has a beer garden, a covered veranda for those who want to sit outside and enjoy their drink and they also offer reception. According to Frank, food trucks are in place 99% of the time on Fridays and Saturdays.
